Background and importance of the project, or rationale for its existence at Western New Mexico Universtiy.

After reviewing the most recent National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) data, it was clear that WNMU fell below the national median for the benchmark for active and collaborative learning.  A team of faculty, students and staff associated with the Assessment Committee designed a project to address this gap.  This project is important to supporting the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) process, addressing active and collaborative learning, and instituting a culture of assessment throughout the institution.
