QUICK FACTS ABOUT DUAL CREDIT

 

What's in it for you?
Are you planning on attending WNMU, UNM, NMSU, DACC, ENMU, CNM, or any other New Mexico state university, college or community college after you graduate?  Then you will be required to take General Education Classes to receive a diploma from them.  Many of these Gen. Ed. courses can be taken while you are still in high school for little or no cost to you and your family.  These courses will be accepted at any of the schools listed above.

Purposes

·         increase the educational options and opportunities for high school students

·         extend course availability to high school students

·         increase access to college credit-bearing courses

·         little or no cost to the student or his/her family

 

Benefits

·         provide students an early glimpse of college life

·         encourage more students to consider higher education

·         accumulate college credits while in high school


What the Research Says

Dual credit makes it more likely that you will:

·         finish high school and college better prepared for work and life

·         shorten the time it will take you to complete your college degree

·         have the same opportunities as other students in the state, whether you live in an urban or rural region of New Mexico

What Is Early Registration, and why should I register early?

·         Registering for classes-

o   (Spring Classes in September. & October)

o   (Fall & Summer Classes in March and April)

·         Make sure you get a seat in the class you want before it fills.

·         You can always drop a class if your high school schedule or your circumstances change.
