WNMU financial aid program provides assistance to students in need and/or performance based situations.
The need-based assistance consists of grants, loans, work-study, and scholarships.
The application process is the same for all the above. Follow the steps outlined below to apply.
The decision of how much aid the student may get is based on a U.S. government formula which calculates the amount support needed minus what the student's family should be able to provide.
The performance based financial assistance consists of scholarships and work-study and is entirely based on a student’s academic, athletic or artistic skills.

To apply for need based financial aid:
- Before financial aid can be awarded to you, you must be admitted as a "regular" student. This is a classification (e.g. a student may also be considered "special"). You do not need to complete the enrollment process before applying for aid. Apply early for best results.
- Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Ask for a FAFSA at your local library or High School, or file electronically at FAFSA
(please include WNMU federal school code #002664 when you file to have a copy of the results sent to us)
- Complete a WNMU Financial Aid Application Form.
You may download and print the application from here or call our office to have one mailed to you.
- Present the financial aid office with requested documents.
We will need you to supply us with copies of various documents such as: Your tax return, your parents tax return, etc. to verify your need. We will tell you what documents are needed when your application has been reviewed.
To apply for performance based financial aid:
- Complete a WNMU Financial Aid Application Form.
You may download and print the application from here or call our office to have one mailed to you.
- Contact the appropriate coach or director for specific qualification criteria.
- Review scholarship listing for appropriate scholarship application.

A financial aid award is NEVER automatically renewed.
Applications for continuation of aid must be made each year.
Please follow the appropriate outline above for the type of aid you are receiving.
Note:
Minimum requirements for continuation of
financial aid
include maintaining satisfactory progress.
