Grant Programs

Federal Pell Grant


The U.S. Department of Education provides federal grants to undergraduate students. All Pell Grant applicants must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students who have earned a bachelor's or a professional degree or its equivalent either foreign or nationally recognized are not eligible for any type of Pell, SEOG, or SSIG Grants.

How much am I eligible for?

The maximum award for one year is $5,550. Eligibility is based on the students' enrollment status and the calculated expected family contribution (EFC) as determined by the FAFSA You may not receive Pell Grant funds from more than one school at a time.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)


SEOG is awarded to those students who demonstrate exceptional financial need. This is defined as an EFC of '0'. Students who complete the Free Federal Application for Student Aid are automatically considered for the grant.

Eligibility Requirements:
  1. EFC must be equal to '0'
  2. Must not have earned a bachelors degree
  3. Must be enrolled in an eligible program of study
  4. Must be enrolled full time
Award Amounts:

The grant is based on availability of funds. The maximum award is $2,000 per year.

New Mexico State Student Incentive Grant (SSIG)


The New Mexico Student Incentive Grant was created to provide aid for undergraduate students with substantial financial need who are attending public colleges or universities:

Eligibility Requirements:
  1. U.S. Citizen
  2. New Mexico Resident
  3. Enrolled at least half-time
  4. Undergraduate
  5. Demonstrate Financial Need
  6. Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Award Amounts:

The grant is based on availability of funds. The maximum award is $2,000 per year. Part-time students award will be pro-rated.
