Mailbox Size Limits
Most WNMU e-mail accounts will hold a maximum of 30 MB of e-mail. If your mailbox becomes full, any new e-mail you receive will be returned to the sender. It is important that you remove your e-mail messages from the server, either by downloading them into your e-mail client (such as Thunderbird, Outlook, or Eudora).
E-mail systems are not designed to send or receive large files (i.e., files larger than 1 Mb). Transmitting large files by e-mail can cause problems for both the sender and the receiver.Retrieving an e-mail containing a large file can be very difficult and time-consuming for those using a dial-up connection.
It is always best to avoid sending large files as e-mail attachments. A much better way to transmit a large file is to place the file in a shared University network directory and send directions on how to access that file to those who need to do so. To share photographs and other images with Internet users, consider making a Web page containing those images and sending the Web address of that page to those with whom you want to share them.
