Students, faculty, and staff can access their e-mail directly through Mustang Express. This is the easiest way to get your e-mail, as your Mustang Express account is already set up for your university e-mail address. However, faculty and staff members who wish to can also access their e-mail through University Web Mail by following these instructions. To access to your e-mail account through a Web browser, you will need to have the latest version of Microsoft Interent Explorer or Netscape Navigator/Communicator installed on your computer. You will also need to have your e-mail user name - this is what appears to the left of the @ sign in your e-mail address - and password. If you are missing any of those items, then please call 4357 (574-4357 off campus) to receive your user name, reset your password, or to request that Internet Explorer or Netscape be installed or upgraded on your computer. To access your e-mail through the University Web Mail system: 1. Go to http://www.wnmu.edu 2. Select the "University Email" link. 3. Select "University Web Mail." 4.
Enter your user name and password in the spaces provided.5. Select the server from the drop-down menu below that. The server is what appears to the right of the @ sign in your e-mail address, so if your e-mail address is "jswift@email.wnmu.edu" then you would select "email.wnmu.edu" in the drop-down menu. 6. If you click on the box next to "Don't cache output" (to the left of the image shown) to remove the checkmark, then temporary copies of your e-mail messages will be saved on your computer. These temporary copies are displayed if you go back to a message during an e-mail session. You will most likely want to leave this box unchecked if you are the only person using your computer, since using those cached messages allows the Web Mail program to work slightly faster. If you are using a shared computer, then you may want to check this box so that copies of messages are not available to anyone else who uses that computer. 7. Select the "Log In" button at the bottom of the screen. If you are returned to the same "WNMU Web Mail" page after selecting the "Log In" button, then re-type your user name and password, make sure that the correct server is selected, and select "Log In" again. If you still are not able to access your Web Mail after doing this, then please note what user name, password, and server you are using, and call 574-4357 for assistance. You can also get help through the Web by going to http://www.wnmu.edu/itdept/help/helpreq.htm filling out, and submitting the Help Desk Request Form. Back to top. |
