Applications are invited for the following anticipated opening: nine-month tenure-track faculty position to start in August 2008 or sooner. This position emphasizes excellence in teaching. In addition, the successful candidate is required to be involved in advising, university committees, program development, assessment, university service, scholarly activity, and community service as appropriate; including a willingness to serve as an advisor to student organizations. All finalists will be expected to make a thirty-minute (30) presentation in an actual classroom situation at the time of the interview. The topic will be the choice of the screening committee.  Interest in research, publications, and securing grants; experience on university committees or related community organizations; participation in state/national professional organizations; previous teaching experience in higher education, past successful professional experiences with groups from diverse backgrounds, and proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

Gallup Graduate Studies Center – Seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor of Counseling (depending upon experience), 9 month, tenure track position and expected to teach 1 summer session (June or July, for additiona summer salary)  Minimum Qualifications:  Must hold an earned doctorate in Counseling, Psychology, School Psychology or related discipline (ABD candidates will be considered) and should have agency, school or community counseling experience.  Must have 3 to 5 years experience in teaching, research, and clinical work.   Must have experience working with diverse populations and commitment to collaboration as a member of the faculty team.  Preferred Qualifications:  Experience with diverse populations and/or working with Native American populations in a rural setting is preferred. Clinical counseling experience in both mental health and school settings is preferred.  Licensed or license eligible mental health counselor, Level III Supervisory School Psychologist and supervisory experience of master’s level counselors and school psychologists is preferred.  The successful candidate assumes the following responsibilities of the University:  assist with application and placement process for graduate MA Counseling interns (and depending on experience, School Psychology major) and/or licensure candidates in beginning and advanced field internships; teach 9 graduate credit hour course load per Fall and Spring semester in Masters of Arts and/or school psychology licensure programs (possibilities include: Methods of Research for Counselors,  Diagnostics & Evaluations, Group Process, Marriage & Family). Courses at night and/or weekends; direct field supervision of counseling and/or school psychology licensure candidates; assist counseling majors, cooperating field mentors, and faculty (adjunct) before and during beginning and advanced internships, including evaluation of exit portfolio, in which candidates demonstrate that they have met program and licensure competencies; advise counseling graduate and school psychology licensure majors; advisement hours include late afternoons/early evenings; research best practices - counseling and/or school psychology; work closely with P-12 school counselors, school psychologists, and other community mental health partners and stakeholders; serve on and participate in university, School of Education, Gallup Graduate Studies Center, and community committees; demonstrate the integration of computerized multimedia instructional methods and videotaping of practice counseling sessions in appropriate courses; and supervision of diagnostic and evaluation lab, including testing programs used by graduate candidates in appropriate courses.  Salary Range : $ 38,452 – $46,032 for Assistant and $50,946 - $57,218 for Associate
