RESPONSIBILITIES: Under general direction, develops and monitors programs and policies to minimize student injuries and ensure appropriate sports medicine coverage for all events and athletes. This is a 12 month, full time position. Assists in providing sports coverage to Men’s & Women’s athletic events, training room, and practices. Works cooperatively with Purchasing to coordinate bid proceedings for athletic training room supplies. Develops, reviews, implements, and provides assistance to Head Athletic Trainer, coaches, athletes, and GA trainer, and students for development of sports appropriate training and rehabilitation programs to minimize injury and maximize performance; implements individualized programs based on assessed physical requirements/limitations, assesses performance level for release; works closely with appropriate physician to determine required training measures for maximum rehabilitation. Develops warm up and cool down programs sports specific to ensure optimum preparation; helps to maintain files and records of all participating athletes; implements prescribed rehabilitation treatment program through use of exercises and treatment modalities i.e.: heat, ice, whirlpool, and electrical stimulus to ensure optimum recovery; maintains inventory levels of appropriate medical supplies; and performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent to two (2) years full time experience as an Athletic Trainer. Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or closely related field may substitute for two years professional experience.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Certification & in good standing by NATA, current State of New Mexico license or eligible to obtain and CDL or ability to obtain.
SALARY: $30,000 Annually
