SEEKS AN ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF SOCIAL WORK (TWO POSITIONS AVAILABLE)

Applications are invited for two tenure-track faculty positions with a contract starting date of January 2009 (Fall 2009 is also an option). Both positions emphasize excellence in teaching. In addition, the successful candidates are required to be involved in advising, university committees, program development, assessment, university service, scholarly activity, community service as appropriate including willingness to serving as advisor to student organizations. Candidates will be expected make a thirty (30) minute presentation in an actual classroom situation at the time of interview. Preferred for both positions are an interest in research, publications, and securing grants; experience on university committees or related community organizations; participation in state/national professional organizations; previous teaching experience in higher education; past successful professional experiences with groups from diverse backgrounds; and proficiency in Spanish. One position carries with the opportunity to live in either Silver City or Gallup, NM. Either position may be assigned either to the new MSW program or to the existing and accredited BSW program, depending on the applicants and the needs of the department.

Social Work Department (in the School of Health Sciences)Seeks an Assistant Professor of Social Work. Must have an earned doctorate in social work or related field and an MSW with three years of post-Master’s practice experience. ABD will also be considered. Candidates must be eligible for Social Work Licensure in New Mexico. Practice and/or teaching experience with ethnic populations highly desirable. Ability to use technology and a willingness to participate in distance learning are considered assets. Experience in advising is preferred. This is a full time, 9-month, tenure track position. Salary: $ 42,198 - $46,025

Social Work Department (in the School of Health Sciences)Seeks an Assistant Professor of Social Work. Must have a MSW with three years post-Master’s experience. An earned doctorate (or ABD) in social work or related discipline is strongly preferred. Candidates must be eligible for Social Work Licensure in New Mexico. Position may involve some fieldwork coordination. The Social Work program is a small, CSWE accredited program that offers a strong generalist curriculum; the anticipated MSW program will have a focus on rural practice with diverse populations. Ability to use technology and a willingness to participate in distance learning are considered assets. This is a full time, 9-month, tenure track position. Salary: $ 42,198 - $46,025
