APPLIED TECHNOLOGY

Under the Dean of the School of Applied Technology direction provides expertise and support in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of assigned curriculum, program in accordance with the School of Applied Technology goals and objectives.  Assist in the development of educational specifications and planning of educational facilities:  Serve on the Deans Cabinet; monitor academic schedule compliance; assure instructional compliance is met at the local, federal, state; provide to the Dean research on best practices and current trends related to curriculum, instruction for restructuring programs.  Assist with the restructuring, development and implementation of programs.  Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with other professionals, students, parents and community.   Interact with parents, outside agencies, businesses, and community to enhance understanding of the School of Applied Technology initiatives and priorities and to elicit assistance for students.  Use a variety of communication techniques and tools to enhance collaboration and communication.  Assist in Responding to the community, agencies and student inquiries or other concerns in a timely manner. Assist in writing grant proposals and implement programs for which funds have been awarded to the School of Applied Technology.  Assist in the recruitment and selection of personnel as requested by the Dean of the School of Applied Technology.  Actively promote and participate in the pursuit of Western New Mexico University vision and Mission.  Exercise proactive leadership in promoting the vision and mission of The School of Applied Technology.  Assist in developing long and short-range plans based on the School of Applied Technology mission and the State Department of Education priorities.  Assist in the revising of curriculum, program or service delivery based on annual assessments.   Provide the Dean prepare strategies which support school of Technology Improvement Plan and the mission.  Assist in designing and implementing an instructional evaluation system for the School of Applied Technology.  Assist the Dean in the collection, analysis, interpretation and use of data for assessment, evaluation, and decision making.  Assist instructors in teaching methodologies and in the use of appropriate material upon request.  Work with instructors to ensure that the industry certification objectives are been met that lead to industry certification.  Facilitate effective communications among WNMU Advising Center, secondary schools and the School of Applied Technology.  Use appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide others toward task accomplishments.  Submit to the Dean Complete timely and accurate reports.  Maintain accurate instructor performance data.  Ensure that all Faculty members comply with the internal School of Applied Technology requirements, such as timely response to book orders, class rosters, application for student graduation, student advisement, etc.  Serve on the School of Applied Technology committees for the planning and implementation of programs and /or services.  Serve as liaison with outside agencies to articulate the vision and mission of the School of Applied Technology and seek additional resources.  Serve on WNMU committees and task forces in support of the School of Applied Technology initiatives and priorities.  Provide essential information on programs to all stakeholders.  Maintain consistent communication with the Dean of School of Applied Technology.  Demonstrate and communicate an up-to-date knowledge of the state, federal and local program standards and expectations.  Provide the Dean current research, trends, methods and practices in community, career, and technical education through professional organizations.  Assist in the designing curriculum and organizing educational programs.  Identify types of advisory committees to be established and provide technical assistance to maintain such committees.  Promote program offerings to the businesses, industry, and lay community.  Assist the Dean in the interview and selection process for instructors.  Conduct internal and external performance appraisals, such as classroom observations etc. on instruction content and faculty performance.  Serve on committees, at the local and state level.  Delegate responsibility to appropriate staff members.  Maintain model high standards of professional conduct; and performs other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  A Master’s degree.  PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Experience with groups from diverse backgrounds and proficiency in Spanish.

SALARY:  $36,000 Annually
