RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs variety of general maintenance activities to build and/or repair facilities on WNMU campus, including the following tasks: installs, maintains, and/or repairs floors, doors, walls, windows, stairwells, furniture and roofs. Paints shelves and cabinets and performs rough and finish carpentry in requested work orders. Assists with repairs light fixtures, electrical outlets, and appliances; performs minor repairs where indicated through visual inspection/work orders. Must be able and willing to come in after hours to take care of emergency work orders and do minor repairs. May perform minor repairs to fleet vehicles ie. maintains all fluid levels, checks and adjusts tire pressures and other minor vehicular needs to ensure ongoing availability and safe operations of university vehicles; and may assist with assigning work activities of student workers. Responsible for all custodial & grounds work including pouring concrete and performs other duties as assigned.
PAY RATE: $7.00 hourly
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. Experience equivalent to three years full-time work in general building or construction, including carpentry, and electrical responsibilities. One-year experience with swimming pool maintenance preferred. Must be willing to receive training. Vehicle maintenance experience. Must have a valid NM Driver’s license, and the successful candidate shall be required to pass a defensive driving course for a university driver’s permit. Proficiency in Spanish and professional experience with diverse groups preferred. The successful candidate shall also work a schedule that may vary due to institutional needs.
