SENIOR PROGRAM MANAGER

GARDNER LEARNING CENTER/T or C, NM

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under limited supervision of the Dean of Extended University, manages, supervises, and evaluates daily operations of a satellite distance education site of Western New Mexico University. This full time position plans, prepares, and organizes school course schedules to ensure provision of sufficient classes and course mixes to meet educational needs of local community. Counsels students regarding course selection for achievement of specific educational goals. Acts as primary liaison between the satellite campus and local community to ensure timely and complete communication and understanding or programs and services. Distributes materials to students and instructors upon receipt from Extended University Dean. Places book orders based on class enrollment. Works closely with all main campus departments to ensure timely and accurate distribution of information, entry of enrolled student information, and application of appropriate funding to student accounts. Recruits and selects instructors for classes. Researches and prepares requests for grant funding in support of distributed education programs. Negotiates and arranges classroom usage with local school facilities. Acts as spokesperson for the programs offered through distributed education. Plans and participates in a variety of community and public relations events to promote and increase awareness of the programs offered at the satellite center. Develops, implements, and analyzes various interest and evaluation surveys to assess local support and need for class offerings. Prepares and presents program ideas/proposals to Distributed Education Dean for review, recommendation and approval. Performs all necessary admission, registration, and financial aid assistance and counseling to students. Researches and resolves issues between students and main campus records/files. Responsible for managing program budget at the Gardner Learning Center (T or C, NM). Supervises three support staff at the Gardner Learning Center (Administrative Secretary, Executive Secretary, and Tech Support Analyst); and performs all related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree with three to five years support work in an executive setting; OR a Master’s degree in a closely related area may substitute for two years of the required experience. Knowledge of Spanish and some experience with diverse groups required. Proficiency with all programs that are part of the Microsoft Office suite. Strong people as well as written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in Spanish, experience with diverse groups preferred. Knowledge of and familiarity with local business, educational, governmental, and religious figures and organizations preferred. A valid New Mexico driver’s license or ability to obtain one.

SALARY: $27,000 - $30,000 annually
