DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the general direction of the Dean of Enrollment Management/Vice President for Student Affairs, plans, directs, manages, supervises, and evaluates operations and function of the University’s Student Health Services; assesses and treats illness and provides medical care to students; and promotes wellness. This part-time, (20 hours a week), nine and a half-month position administers and directs outpatient health care delivery for acute and chronic illness and injures. Develops and promotes delivery of health promotion and health education programs at the Student Health Services outreach program on campus. Schedules Student Health Services staff meetings to keep lines of communication open and also assists in staff development programs. Responsible for the final overall evaluation and job performance of all personnel. The immediate supervisor of the department will still perform departmental evaluation. Cooperates with community groups and acts as liaison between other University groups and department (administrative or academic). Promotes good rapport with private medical sector, GRMC, State and County Health Departments, and county, state, and national medical societies. Sets goals and objectives (with staff participation) for the Student Health Services in keeping within the guidelines set by the Dean of Enrollment Management/VPSA. Prioritize these goals and evaluate results. Elicits and reviews health histories; performs physical assessments; orders and interprets diagnostic tests; develops and initiates a treatment plan, including prescribing drugs; educates patients in wellness as well as illness refers patients to specialists for care; documents all patient encounters; serves on committees within the facility that develop plans for change to improve the quality of patient care; ensures working area and equipment are kept clean; develops, reviews, and updates policies and protocol for patient care; and instructs and trains others in methods and procedures; and performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. The Student Health Services Center hours are Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Nursing with a minimum of three (3) years experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner or other related field as a Nurse Practitioner in ambulatory care, Family Planning, and/or Primary Care. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Current National and New Mexico Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner or other related field as a Nurse Practitioner; New Mexico State License; current BLS certification; and annual TB test.
SALARY: $36,363 Annually (part-time, 9.5 month contract)
