RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the general direction of the Director of First Year Experience, provides academic advisement to all prospective and current students of Western New Mexico University. Student Success Coordinator duties include program element research, program design, measurement design, analysis, and implementation. Advisor/Advising: Provides Academic assistance and advising to new, current, and returning students; assists student with course selection and schedule adjustments based on known as well as unknown major; provides academic support counseling including procedure for placing a student appeal; assists with student/faculty issues and concerns, career planning/academic choices, and degree audits and plans. Schedules advisement appointments with all probationary students, provides guidance and counseling for methods to improve academic performance; orients entering students for the University; meets with prospective students and parents to discuss the student’s career and /or academic goals and objectives with respect to Western New Mexico University’s program offerings; organizes and plans advisor training meetings on a weekly basis. Student Success Coordinator: As Student Success Coordinator performs duties for all Student Success Classes assigned within the directorate. Duties include but not limited to instructor training, selection, evaluation, analysis and implementation. Responsible for program oversight and reporting. Advises the Director on Program related matters. Qualified to plan, develop, and teach curriculum and objectives of Student Success Seminar course; prepares and instructs students regarding successful practices and methods of participating in higher education classes; organizes and conducts workshops, seminars and forums in a variety of areas i.e.: health awareness, test anxiety, study skills and communication; acts as guest speaker in classes regarding personal growth and development; and performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Masters degree in Education, Business, History, English or closely related field with at least two years experience working in higher education including responsibility for presenting educational material in a structured institutional setting.

SALARY: $29,488 Annually
