MISSION

The U.S. Corps of Engineers primary civil mission is developing and managing the nation’s water resources.

The Corps develops projects to reduce flood damage; improves navigation channels and harbors; protects wetlands; and preserves, safeguards, and enhances the environment.

ACTION

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regulates (by way of issuing permits) discharges of dredge and fill materials into any water of the U.S. including wetlands. Projects necessitating the issuing of such permits include road building, construction of any kind, mining, bank stabilization, industry, development, and utility lines if a discharge of dredge and fill materials into waters of the U.S. (including intermittent streams) is involved.

The number of applications being evaluated and permits issued varies from day to day.
