Where is the Student Health Services located?
The WNMU Student Health Services is located in Juan Chacon Bldg, Suite 147.
What are the Student Health Services hours?
The Student Health Services is open Monday through Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm.
Do I have to pay to be seen at Student Health Services?
Currently enrolled students pay a fee per credit hour for health services.
This fee entitles each student to 5 medical visits and 15 counseling visits per
semester. Thereafter, each visit is $15.00.
What do I do if I get sick and the Student Health Services is
closed?
If you feel you need immediate medical attention please go to the Gila Regional
Medical Center Emergency Room at 1313 E 32nd St, Silver City, or
Urgent Care at 1600 E 32nd St, Silver City.
Do I need an appointment to be seen at the Student Health
Services?
No. Walk-ins are welcome. However, it is recommended to make an appointment.
Walk-ins are seen on a first-come first-serve basis and students with
appointments take priority.
Can I get a note for class if I am sick?
Class excuses are provided for students who are examined and deemed unable to
attend class for health reasons.
Can anyone find out about my health information?
Patients’ health information is protected by federal regulations. Absolutely no
one can gain knowledge of your health information unless you give permission to
do so.
Does the Student Health Services take insurance?
Student Health Services does not process medical insurance. Insured students
will assume the responsibility of submitting a claim to their insurance company
when indicated.
Does the Student Health Services require health insurance?
Health insurance is recommended but not required. The University does not
endorse a specific medical insurance carrier. The Student Health Services can
provide information on a limited number of carriers and it is up to the student
to purchase his/her own coverage.
