Baccharis salicifolia is a large shrub with stout stems much branched from the base. It is similar to Baccharis salicina, except that the leaves are finely dentate all the way around the edge. Both species may occur together in the habitat, usually washes and arroyos. Baccharis salicifolia is a wetland species. The flowerheads are present in corymbiform arrays. The fruit is an cypsela-- a "parachuted" achene.
