Centaurea solstitialis Linnaeus
(Yellow Star Thistle)


Family: Asteraceae

Status: Exotic, Noxious Weed (Class A, with limited distribution within the state)

Synonyms:
None

Centaurea solstitialis grows on the edges of cultivated fields and on roadsides. The inflorescence is bright yellow with yellow non-grooved spines on the phyllaries. The stems are definitely winged and cauline leaves are tomentose, sessile and decurrent onto the stem.
