Daucus carota is an exotic but rather pretty plant with a large white to pinkish inflorescence consisting of
an umbel of umbels (compound umbel). Important for identification, the bracts of the primary umbel are pinnately
divided. The leaves are likewise up to tripinnately dissected and appear lacy. This plant is commonly found along
roadsides. This is the case in Silver City-- Dr. Norris photographed this plant in the median on Pope Street near
College Avenue.
