Lescuraea incurvata (Hedw.) E. Lawton

, Family: Leskeaceae

Status: Native

Synonyms:
Pseudoleskea incurvata (Hedw.) Loeske
Leskea incurvata Hedw.
Amblystegium incurvatum (Hedw.) Kindb.
Hypnum incurvatum (Hedw.) P. Beauv.

Lescuraea incurvata looks similar to L. patens, but instead of having the obvious and mostly centrally located papillae of L. patens, L. incurvata has sometimes rather obscure prorate distal cell tips. These indistinct prorations can be seen nearly all the way to the base. Both species have abundant paraphyllia and the leaf shape is similar.

Many thanks to the University of Colorado Herbarium (COLO), Erin Tripp, and Dina Clark for allowing us to photograph this specimen.
