Synonyms:
Agrostis racemosa Michaux

Muhlenbergia racemosa is a perennial grass with slender rhizomes. The inflorescence is a contracted panicle. The leaf blades are flat and about 6mm wide. The lemma awn is absent or less than 3mm long and the second glume has one vein. The glumes are much longer than the floret. Muhlenbergia racemosa is found at middle elevation along the Gila River and its tributaries.
