Myrmecia sp.
Myrmecia is a genus of green algae that is very closely related to Trebouxia (both are
in the Trebouxiaceae.) Myrmecia is the photobiont in the lichen Placidium squamulosum.
It is bright green, has a two-piece chloroplast that are shaped like bowls facing each
other from opposite sides of the cell, and lacks a pyrenoid. It may also be larger.
