Neckera pennata is a strikingly unusual moss with complanate leaves along stems that are several centimeters long and can sometimes be found hanging down from overhangs. The auriculate leaves are oblong with an abruptly acute and serrulate tip. Neckera pennata is found on rock at upper elevation in the Gila.
