Rhizoplaca chrysoleuca (Sm.) Zopf
Orange Rock Posy
Rhizoplaca chrysoleuca is a folious lichen that initially appears crustose until one begins to collect it-- it clearly is not adherent to the granite boulder, rather is tethered at one spot. The thallus is composed of small grayish green lobules, with frequent light tan to dull orange apothecia dotting the surface.
