Riccia frostii is a complex thallous liverwort that makes small rosettes. The most distinguishing characteristic
is the magenta-colored fringe around the lobes. Riccia frostii has been collected several times in New Mexico in the
distant past, but no known collection is more recent than 1960. This is likely because this diminutive liverwort is
inconspicuous.
