Schistidium confertum (Funck) Bruch & Schimper

Schistidium confertum has keeled leaves that are 1-stratose except for scattered 2-stratose strips. The margins are recurved, one side less so than the other, and they are also 2-stratose. The hairpoint is short. The basal cells can be seen to be short rectangular and at the margin the transverse walls are thicker than the longitudinal walls. The stem central strand is reported to be absent to weak. Schistidium confertum, like other Grimmiaceae, is found on rock.
